![]() ![]() It is an agile animal that can jump as far as 14 metres which helps it catch prey and traverse through the mountains. The snow leopard is an ambush predator and will attack its prey from above when possible. Their prey includes the ibex, markhor, bharal, deer, boar, marmots, pikas and small rodents. They can also bring down prey almost three times their own size including domestic livestock. ![]() One of the most beautiful of the cats, snow leopards are also exceptional athletes capable of making huge leaps over ravines. They are strictly carnivores and eat whatever meat they can find. Snow Leopards are opportunists when it comes to feeding. It can be as small as 5 square miles or as large as 15 square miles. A snow leopards home range can vary greatly in size. An individual snow leopard inhabits a well defined home range, however, it does not defend its range aggressively when trespassed by other individuals. The snow leopard is rarely associated with dense forestation. The snow leopard is generally associated with generally rocky terrain such as high valley ridges, rocky outcrops and mountain passes. In winter, snow leopards descend to forests at lower altitudes. Snow Leopard Habitatĭuring the summer, the snow leopard inhabits mountainous meadows above the tree line in rocky alpine regions at an altitude of 2,700 metres (8,900 feet) to 6,000 metres (20,000 feet). The powerful limbs of the snow leopard are relatively short for their body size and are supported by large, powerful paws.ĭue to the under-development of the fibro-elastic tissue that forms part of the vocal apparatus, the snow leopard cannot give a full, deep roar and this along with differences in skull characteristics help to separate them from their fellow ‘ big cats’. Their long tail, which can measure as much as 90 centimetres, helps the cats balance as they move over rugged and often snowy terrain. The snow leopards head, which has small ears and a distinctive heavy brow, is rounded and comparatively small for their body size, which can be up to 1.3 metres in length and weigh up to around 70 kilograms. Snow Leopards have heavy fur on their tail and the bottom of their paws are covered with fur for protection against the cold snow. Their fur is long and woolly and helps protect the cat from extreme cold. ![]() The markings help camouflage it from prey. The Snow Leopard has a white fur coat with brownish/yellow tinges that is covered with rings of brown/black rosettes/spots. ![]() ![]() ![]() This overlay is stamped and stained to look exactly like the material it aims to substitute for. ![]() Stamped Concrete Overlay – If you are passionate about brick, natural stone, or any other expensive materials, but could not afford it, stamped overlays are for you. Here are the top applications for resurfacing a concrete pool deck, patio, driveway, etc.: While this doesn't cause the surface to fail, regular crack maintenance and sealing must be performed in order to maintain a resistance to moisture. No matter what type of style or design a customer would desire, there is a coating or overlay that can provide impressive aesthetics without requiring a ridiculous amount of financial investment. When you apply an asphalt overlay to concrete, those joints cause the asphalt to shift overtime, which creates cracks and bumps. Rather, concrete fills voids and irregularities, with the harder surface requiring expansion joints to prevent cracking. It does not compress the way asphalt does or have as much give. An asphalt overlay can provide a simple fix, however there are some things to keep in mind.Ĭoncrete is different than asphalt. Unlike asphalt, when a concrete surface begins to deteriorate there isn't an easy way to repave it without ripping up the surface entirely. Concrete Asphalt Overlay #Īn asphalt overlay does not necessarily have to be applied to an existing asphalt surface in some cases it can be done over concrete pavement. However, you can apply a sealcoat to your asphalt overlay once the full 6 to 12 month curing period has ended to keep it safe. Overlays are used when a sealcoat doesn't cut it and the surface must be replaced. Sealcoats are primarily used as a way to maintain asphalt, providing a protective layer that keeps it strong in the face of the elements. An asphalt overlay actually replaces the top layer of your pavement and gives you a new surface. A sealcoat helps to protect against severe weather, water damage, and wear, but it doesn't replace anything. While sealcoating can fill shallow cracks, it is more akin to adding another coat of paint to a house. Difference between an Asphalt Overlay and Asphalt Sealcoating #Īpplying a sealcoat and paving an asphalt overlay are two very different things. If your asphalt is severely damaged it will need to be replaced, whether you add an overlay or not. Remember that just because the prices are lower for an asphalt overlay doesn't mean that it is the best decision. The cost of an asphalt overlay for a standard, 50,000 square foot parking lot averages between $1.25 and $1.70 per square foot for a 1.5" to 2" thick overlay.Total costs average between $2,000 and $5,800 The cost of an asphalt overlay for a driveway averages between $2 and $5 per square foot.Typically, the larger the surface area, the lower the cost per square foot. ![]() The price of asphalt overlays varies based on how much work needs to be done and how much area you need covered. The thickness of the overlay depends on the thickness of the existing surface, but tends to range between 1.5" and 2". Surface paving: After the assessment and any necessary milling or base repair is completed, the asphalt overlay is ready to be applied. The base is rebuilt with a combination of aggregate and asphalt. Base repair: To ensure that no major problems pop up, the base of an asphalt surface may require replacement where damage such as rutting or sinking have occurred.Depending on the wear of the surface, a milling machine grinds down 1" to 3" and the surface material is hauled off to be recycled. ![]()

And it took all my willpower not to give in and just „diet a little“ (not possible with my predisposition). ![]() It's a deeply personal, complicated, fine-line-walking situation for all of us. I don't always think this is "bad." Given my history with binge eating disorder, there are times when I am in a disordered mindset and I am abusing myself with food, so my body is bigger for that reason and in turn, there are times when I'm feeling incredibly peaceful and harmonious in my body and so it is smaller/more muscular because weight lifting is therapeutic for me. I wish it weren't the case, but it feels easier, sometimes, to just work out and drop a few pounds when I'm having a bad body image moment than it does to try to unlearn and overhaul the entire legacy of body shame I've been taught for 33 years. That's a huge part of this debate for me sometimes, I know I will just feel better if I cut some crap out of my food rotation and move my body more, because I'll look/feel less puffy and bloated, but I also wish I didn't care or feel like I have to care about looking puffy and bloated. I often hate the internal debate I have with myself, too, and especially relate to this passage: "Because I don’t think I have enough time to completely unpack all the negative conditioning I grew up with about female bodies and what it means to be a beautiful bride in less than 12 months."
